The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the NIA Region 10 3-Storey Building, the First Quarter Assessment 2021, and the 43rd NIA Region 10 Anniversary were the three major activities conducted and celebrated last April 19, 2021, at the NIA Regional Office 10, Villarin St., Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. The 3-IN-1 Activity kicked off with a mass of thanksgiving officiated by Rev. Jearby Ratilla, SSJV. A limited number of participants from the Regional Office, Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) & guests were at the venue. The rest of the employees witnessed the celebration virtually from their respective workstations and respective IMO to maintain social distancing in adherence to the prescribed minimum health standards during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To celebrate and thank the employees and other entities that helped bring the project to realization NIA employees, contractors & other guests gathered at the office compound and broke the ground for the NIA Region 10 3-Storey Building. The pillars of NIA Region 10 (Division Managers, Acting Division Managers, Section Heads & Management Specialist) headed by the very active & dynamic Regional Manager, Engr. Constancio G. Bana-ay, Jr. graced the event. DOT Construction with their Authorized Managing Officer, Mr. Antonio E. Survilla, Jr. was also present during the ceremony. Their construction firm provided the paraphernalia used in the ceremony.
After the Groundbreaking Ceremony outdoor, The First Quarter Assessment for 2021 took place inside the Conference Room that same morning. It was conducted to determine the significance and level of accomplishment of the various projects and undertakings of the agency. It was a brief get-together of all the NIA Region 10 Officials and selected employees which culminated with a sumptuous individually packed lunch for all the participants.
To present the agency’s history, accomplishments & attributes, boost the NIA Personnel spirit & acknowledge the employees and their contribution to the agency, the NIA Region 10 proudly celebrated its 43rd Anniversary. Our commitment to provide satisfaction to the Filipino farmers allowed us to establish exceptional bond with them who are the main reason why we are able to continue over the years. The agency’s prolonged existence is a measure of success.
A video presentation of how NIA Region 10 came to be was one of the highlights of the program. Featured in the video presentation are the different Regional Managers who assumed office in NIA Region 10 and their accomplishments. The completed structures and dams were also shown in the video.
Another highlight of the afternoon program was the Anniversary message from the NIA Administrator, GEN RICARDO R VISAYA (Ret). He expressed his congratulations to NIA Region 10 for the dedicated service. He emphasized, “It is our government’s aspiration to irrigate all potential irrigable areas all over the country, operate and maintain existing irrigation facilities for our country’s food self-sufficiency while we uplift the lives of our farmers. This vision will not be achieved if we will not exert extra effort in fulfilling our mission. In order for us to succeed as an Agency, each employee should give his/her best every single working day.”
On a lighter note, the employees of the Regional Office and the different IMOs participated in the fun and very colorful ”Through the Decades Presentation (1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s)”, showcasing the talents of employees rarely seen & heard.
The variety show was followed by a virtual BINGO. It was an interactive, exciting & a fun-filled event where players had the opportunity to laugh and enjoy each-other's company. It sparked a sense of joy & belonging by recognizing the employees & making them part of this momentous celebration.
